Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for concerns to be asked about his position following a further heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in twelve matches, marking the team's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got plenty of backing from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory of course but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to expand on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I feel the trust. However I've not talked to them after this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Response

Slot lamented known weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side going through a spell such as this with performances so bad.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to the top, prove once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
