Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Shot National Guard Personnel to the White House

Former President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member killed last week to visit the executive mansion.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.

Information on the Devastating Event

US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Memorials across the state have been held in their honor.

Presidential Invitation

The president said he’s proposed a White House visit for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump told the press. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Reaction

Attendees gathered over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to support public safety in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that instructors wished for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the Associated Press. “She was caring, considerate and always eager to support those in need.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Legal Actions and Policy Adjustments

Law enforcement have accused a 29-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The incident caused the Trump administration to pause asylum applications and cease providing entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.

Condition of the Airman

Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader the governor said on a news program.

Attorney general the attorney general informed a news show that she aimed to speak to the family.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had fortitude,” the governor informed the audience at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
